Bike theft

As droves of new students enter the UA each year, there are several things campus officials warn them about, one of the more prominent of which is bicycle theft.

“When students ask about crime and safety on campus, we tell them the most frequent instance is bike theft, and we give them recommendations,” said Scott Kirkessner, coordinator of campus tours.

While thinking about school health may conjure up images of a school nurse, the services offered by the UA's Campus Health go far beyond band-aids and flu shots.

Campus Health Service, located in the Highland Commons building next to the Sixth Street Parking Garage, provides medical services ranging from immunization shots and nutrition advice to psychiatric treatment and acupuncture.

Believe it or not, the original colors of the UA were sage green and silver. But over 100 years ago, a gonga of a deal on blue jerseys with red trim was presented to the university and it accepted.

And just like that, athletics changed the face of the school forever - or at least for the past century - signifying the beginning of a lifelong dependency on sports for all large universities alike.

Medical Center more than just a campus hospital

While the UA and University Medical Center are two seemingly different worlds, they are very much a part of each other

as well.

“We'd say that UMC is affiliated with UA, but it's a separate corporation. I don't want to get into all the gory details of that, but we're a primary teaching hospital for the colleges of medicine, nursing and pharmacy,” said Katie Riley, public relations spokeswoman for University Medical
