The peril of overprotective parents

It was 7 a.m. on a Sunday morning when I got the call; it was loud and unwelcome, and it was the sound of my cell phone playing “These Words” by Natasha Bedingfield. Soccer team embarks on first trip of season

Last season was not what the Arizona soccer team expected.

After a hot start through the first five games, in which the Wildcats went 4-1, nothing seemed to go quite right.

Through the remainder of the season, Arizona won only two more games while being shutout eight times.

When night fell and the city lights turned on, the main acts at Lollapalooza took the stage. The Chicago skyline provided an incredible backdrop for the biggest shows of the weekend. The two main stages sat on opposite sides of the park, and for the night shows it felt like the crowd doubled in size.

UA volleyball kicks off season

The Arizona volleyball team will kick off its fall season this weekend in hosting the Sheraton Four Points Wildcat Classic tournament. The Wildcats will battle Weber State at 10 a.m. today, San Jose State at 7 p.m. the same day, and will finish the weekend Saturday against Gardner-Webb at 12:30 p.

The Arizona Legislature voted in July to reduce the amount of funding to the Arizona university system by $50 million for the fiscal year of 2009.

As one of the youngest teams in the NCAA, the Arizona men's golf team doesn't seem to have a clear leader for the upcoming season.. Last year, the team was led by senior Creighton Honeck, who helped develop the young Wildcats. Now, with a few weeks left until their first tournament of this season, the team is dependingon a mix of young players.

The Associated Students of the University of Arizona revamped their outreach with newly acquired programs for clubs and fresh enthusiasm for voter registration in last night's senate meeting, the first of the new school year.

“We have some very large changes happening within ASUA,” said President Tommy Bruce.
