Arizona vs. San Diego, Dec. 11

Arizona is 7-2 all-time against the Toreros, but can it extend that streak and snap its current losing streak on the same night?

Arizona vs. Long Beach State, Dec. 14

The 49ers have won just one game this season, but they'll have to be wary of guard Courtney Jacob and her 13.

Say goodbye with dinner

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

The end is nigh. Finals are upon us and winter break soon will be, too. Take advantage of everyone's irregular schedules and plan one last shindig before all your friends disperse for the break. Have an end-of-the-semester

get-together.

The said get-together can take on any of a variety of forms.

Basketball to be tested over break

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

The start of the 2008-09 season has been far from normal for the Arizona men's basketball team. A young, short staff of players under an interim head coach, going up against some of the best competition in the nation isn't exactly ideal.

But the Wildcats (5-2) are dealing with every obstacle that comes at them, from their Hall-of-Fame head coach suddenly retiring, to their 7-foot freshman quitting the team.

Obama's lack of lefty picks upsetting for some

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

It seems like no matter what President-elect Barack Obama does, he still won't be able to live up to the expectations of the angry left and will constantly have crosshairs on him by the right, waiting for the big slip-up. If he pleases one side, the other gets angry.

Wildcats' offense needs to come alive

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

As the year 2008 comes to its end, the Arizona women's basketball team is at a turning point in its season.

With a brand new coach and many new faces, the Wildcats have undergone a complete program makeover. The first few months of head coach Niya Butts' tenure have been nothing short of spectacular.

Icecats to face ASU

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

The UA club hockey team has had a disappointing start to the season and is now heading into a bout with ASU on Friday.

Arizona (3-8-1) has struggled to be consistent throughout the first half of the season, continuously making costly mistakes in the third period.

UA's SAT standard drops

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

A poor score on the SAT can eliminate many college options, but not the UA.

Analysis shows the average SAT scores of all UA applicants in the past four years have dropped about 20 points with non-resident applicants' scores decreased by more than 40 points, according to documents obtained from the UA Admissions Office via a public records request.

'Cats, Cougars to clash in Sin City

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

For the third time in as many seasons, the Arizona football team will face off against BYU, but this meeting will be different from the previous two.

Much different.

The Wildcats (7-5, 5-4 Pacific 10 Conference) will make their first bowl appearance since 1998 when they take on the No.

Next few weeks vital for swim, dive teams

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

The majority of Arizona's student body will look toward winter break as a relaxation period, but the same cannot be said for the swim and dive teams.

Before suiting up for a pair of dual meets on Jan. 2 and Jan. 8, the teams will hit the water in some of the most brutal training sessions of the season.

Sock monkeys for all

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Money can become an issue with the holidays quickly approaching. Fear not, because for no more than $1 you can give a gift that will warm the hearts of your friends and family - or at very least, make them laugh.

Have you ever had that friend you are obligated to buy a gift for but just really don't like - the girl from elementary school who followed you to college or the cousin you dislike who's coming for Christmas? Well, that's what the dollar store is for.

Goff crashes while exploring voters' views

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Keli Goff's first book, “Party Crashing: How the Hip Hop Generation Declared Political Independence” sounds like a book about how blacks have taken over American politics. But it really just tries very hard to be something it's not. Maybe in an attempt to leave nothing out, Goff, a political analyst, has interviewed nearly every black voter in the country for her book.

Mark Stoops named NCAA coordinator of week

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

UA defensive coordinator Mark Stoops was more than pleased with his unit's effort in a 31-10 win over ASU Saturday night.

Little did he know his defense's performance would earn him the honor of being the National Coordinator of the Week by Rivals.com.

Stoops, who is in his fifth season in charge of the Arizona defense, devised a game plan to shut down the Sun Devils and his group of players responded by nearly doing just that.
